Today, in an era of digital transformation and all things mobile, wireless and wearable – all of which use EMF – concerns continue about potential links between adverse health effects and EMF exposure.

Often referred to as radiation, electric and magnetic fields (EMFs) are invisible areas of energy commonly associated with forms of lighting and the use of electrical power. Said another way, EMF is a harmful byproduct of all electricity.

What is Electromagnetic Radiation

Generally grouped into one of two types based on their frequency, EMFs come in the form of non-ionizing, or low-level radiation typically perceived as harmless, and ionizing, high-level radiation that has the potential for DNA and cellular damage.

Several decades ago, the bulk of EMF research centered on extremely low-frequency exposures that came from power lines, home appliances or electrical substations. Some studies at the time uncovered a potential connection between EMF field strength and an increased risk for pediatric leukemia, but findings were weak. And the minimal studies that were conducted on adults showed no link between EMF exposure and diseases, such as breast cancer, brain cancer or leukemia at the time.

Today, in an era of digital transformation and all things mobile, wireless and wearable – all of which use EMF – concerns are mounting about potential links between adverse health effects and EMF exposure.

According to the National Cancer Institute, when people are exposed to ionizing radiation, such as from x-rays, their risk of cancer increases. But while many studies have explored the possible health effects of non-ionizing radiation from cell phones, radar, microwave ovens, and other sources, there’s no consistent evidence to date that non-ionizing radiation boosts cancer risks.

However, a growing body of researchers is beginning to examine the dangers of EMF in a whole new light.

In general, some of the common contributors to daily EMF exposure include:

  • Bluetooth devices
  • Cordless phones
  • Cell phones
  • Laptop computers and Wi-Fi
  • Microwaves
  • Power lines and cell phone towers
  • Radios
  • TVs
  • X-rays, CT scans, MRIs
  • Air travel

Do Mobile Phones Emit EMF Radiation? What If I Live Near a Power Line?

Smartphones and cell phones do release a type of radiofrequency radiation – albeit it’s at the lower end of the non-ionizing radiation spectrum. To date, there is growing scientific evidence stating there’s a direct link to cell phone use with health issues. So much so that, researchers are engaging in further studies to better understand this looming health risk.

When it comes to concerns about living near a power line, the strength of a magnetic field drops significantly with greater distance from the source. What does this mean? The field strength reaching a structure is dramatically weaker than it was at its origin point. It should be noted that with the increases in electrical demand, power lines are now giving off more EMF than humans and animals can manage. It’s well-documented in many countries that the EMF from 5G poses serious health risks not only to humans but to pets as well.

The Symptoms of EMF Exposure From Devices

While we all can potentially experience EMF effects, some people are more sensitive to EMFs than others. Some symptoms discovered in people who appear to have an EMF sensitivity include body aches, headaches, fatigue, tingling skin, dizziness and nausea, and enhanced anxiety and stress, whenever they are close to EMF radiation-emitting devices.

Other health issues with some evidence suggesting a possible link include:

  • Changes to cognitive function, such as attention and concentration
  • Infertility
  • Brain fog
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Frequent illnesses
  • Depression
  • Insomnia
  • Neurological disorders, like ALS or dementia
  • Developmental problems
  • Obesity and diabetes
  • Reduced levels of nutrients
  • Tinnitus
  • Increased release of mercury from dental amalgams
  • Difficulty connecting to Mother Earth
  • Difficulty in receiving insights and answers from the Divine
    • In other words, you’re unable to hear the answers to your repeated prayers or request for spiritual guidance

More intense symptoms, such as cancer or seizures, can make EMF hypersensitivity incredibly difficult to manage. And when exposure symptoms become severe and frequent, some individuals may suffer from electrosensitivity – also known as electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS). Interestingly, there could be an additional risk factor in the development of electrosensitivity – gender.

According to some studies, females are more likely to have issues with EHS than males. There were surveys distributed in the Netherlands, Finland, and Japan, and the results revealed that the majority of those that suffered from EHS symptoms were female: 68%, 81%, and 95%, respectively.

Keep in mind, we are only at the tip of the iceberg regarding research – minimal studies have been conducted on EHS, and there is still a lot about it that scientists don’t yet understand. Additional research must be done before we know why this trend continues to exist.

How to Deal With EMF Exposure

It’s crucial to understand that there are some proactive steps you can take to protect you and your family (besides entirely avoiding activities and devices associated with EMF). While it is not realistic to avoid all human-made EMFs, there are some things you can do to reduce exposure. For starters, minimize the amounts of time you spend exposed to radiation and strive to put as much distance between yourself and the source when possible.

Also, you can boost your antioxidant capacity to protect yourself naturally against the irradiation that can occur and the resulting oxidative stress.

Your diet can play a significant role in fortifying your antioxidant capacity, more specifically via a diet that includes colorful, whole fruits and vegetables, herbs, salmon, flaxseed and more.

Examples of helpful foods include strawberries, cherries, kale, oranges, spinach, tomatoes, kiwi fruit, and broccoli. Including these in your diet is particularly important when you know you will be exposed to higher levels of radiation in certain scenarios – like at work when you have to fly for travel or as part of a dental or medical procedure.

Here are a few other proactive steps you can take:

  • Turn your Wi-Fi off when you are not using it
  • Keep electronic devices outside of your bedroom
  • Try not to carry your cell phone on your body
  • Unplug devices, like TVs, computers, and microwaves, when not in use
  • Use a speakerphone to talk on your cell phone when you can
  • Don’t place your laptop or tablet on your body while using
  • Keep all electronic devices away from your pets and their sleeping areas

The Bottom Line

It’s essential to keep in mind that our dependence on electricity, more specifically on smartphones, Wi-Fi, computers, and tablets is still in its infancy. Research studies on long-term effects simply don’t exist to date. However, the research that does exist today suggests that we must be aware and take protective steps should there are long-term consequences we have not yet uncovered.

As our society’s dependence on electronic devices continues to rise, as well as continued technological advances, it serves all of us to better understand the potential risks of using devices, particularly from chronic use, along with strategies to protect ourselves moving forward.

If you or your pet are suffering from EMF exposure not resolved by the above suggestions, you may wish to consider the alternative treatment of Gemstone and Diamond Therapy. For further information and a complimentary consultation with a practitioner, book your free consultation here.
